Recently I came across someone who had one of the largest fan bases that I have ever seen for an unknown artist. This person started talking to me about the music industry and how I could succeed. There was just one problem, this person could not sing.
When you come across someone like this it makes you wonder what you as a artist are doing wrong, why is your fan base so much smaller? and then there is the big question ....Are people just stupid?. The answer is no people are not stupid, but as an artist you have to make sure that you target your market carefully. Ask yourself this question.... Are these fans really fans or just people that this individual as requested on some social media site.
Building a fan base takes time and patience as does getting your music heard. Anything worth waiting for is worth doing well.
There are those who just think that being a friend of someone who is a big star will automatically make them a star...wrong, work work and more work is what it takes. Use adwords, find out who your fans listen to apart from you and then link your music to those artists.
The fact is you must never give up, it will take time, and when you are successful, the individual who had no talent but had all those "friends" will still have the friends but no success in the music industry.
